Fortuna Sittard won 1-0 away at Willem II in Tilburg after a match with several controversial arbitrage decisions. In the opening minutes, Ivo Pinto went down in the penalty area after contact with Nathan Tjoe-A-On. Despite intervention from the VAR, referee Dennis Higler did not award a penalty. Willem II had the best early chance, but Fortuna goalkeeper Mattijs Branderhorst stopped Devin Haen in a one-on-one situation. Fortuna created opportunities through Jasper Dahlhaus and Brittijn, while Willem II struggled to threaten in attack. Substitute Kaj de Rooij? No, Zeefuik came close after the break and saw a goal disallowed for an alleged foul. About ten minutes before the end, Mohamed Ihattaren set up the decisive attack. His cross was headed by Zeefuik, goalkeeper Maxime Delanghe could not hold the ball, and Brittijn scored from close range. Willem II pushed forward in the final phase, but Fortuna’s defence held firm and Branderhorst dealt comfortably with the high crosses.
